The 4 Horseman of Limiting Beliefs

  1. Fear of Failure - Keeps us from even starting
  1. Fear of Ridicule - What if people judge me for doing this? Keeps us small, stops us from taking chances
  1. Fear of Uncertainty - Which decision is right? Which direction should I choose? Paralyzes us in a state of over-analysis.
  1. Fear of Success - If I succeed will I lose my ambition, Will I peak? Can I handle the power and responsibility, I don't believe that I deserve x,y,z. Tricks us into abandoning our path right at the edge of victory.

The 4 horsemen hide our self-sabotaging behaviour

Functional Analysis

Understand what excuses you use to avoid;
  • Procrastination - Failure/Success
  • Perfectionism & Imposter Syndrome - Ridicule
  • Complacency - Uncertainty

The ‘root cause’ (e.g. fear) is usually an emotional thing and all the tactics, hacks, and notion templates in the world aren't going to help.

Fear Inoculation

Introduce a little of the bad thing so you can build resistance over the long term

Assume your worst fear comes true
With this in place how will you deal with it? How can you learn from it?
  • Failure
  • Ridicule
  • Uncertainty
  • Success

Take these lessons and implement them now to avoid the thing you fear
99% of the people ‘coming for you’ are, guaranteed, doing less than you.

 What's your strategy to overcome your current Fear?
What's your strategy to overcome your current Fear?

Overcoming the underlying fear means you no longer need the avoidance strategy that has been holding you back.

These fears only come up when you are emotionally invested n what you are doing.

Keep a post-it-note near by with a list of reasons why you’re getting in your own way;

1. Stop over-complicating it
2. Your thinking too small (stop underselling yourself)
3. If it was easy everyone would do it
